Scope
iMacros for Firefox (version 10 and above) is one of the iMacros Webextensions. A detailed documentation of features and limitations is found in that page. Here we document the few differences to that common page.

Downloading Files
If you have iMacro File Access installed you can use the ONDOWNLOAD command to automate the download of files in Firefox. If the File Access is not installed, the ONDOWNLOAD parameters are ignored but the file is downloaded with its default file name, to Firefox default downloads folder. However, by default, Firefox will prompt you to choose between saving or opening a file upon download. iMacros cannot handle this prompt and will only be able to download the file if Firefox default action for this file type is Save File.
If the file type you are downloading is not listed under Content Type, you will have to edit Firefox handlers.js file manually. In the example below we included .exe and .msi in handlers.json, using 'action':0 for save.
To locate the handlers.json file, type in Firefox navigation bar 'about:support' and under General Information/Profile Folder you can click on the button Open Folder.
Clearing Cookies and Cache
When you clear the browser history in Firefox, iMacros stored data is also removed. Thus all your iMacros preferences are lost. iMacros will work again, but you preferences will be reset to their defaults. This also happens if you set Firefox to Clear history when Firefox closes in about:preferences#privacy.
The CLEAR command, on the other hand, does not delete iMacros data, while clearing cache and cookies. It also accepts an argument to filter the cookies to be cleared by domain name. Using CLEAR with no argument clears all cookies and cache. Using e.g.
will clear all of the cache, but only cookies from Facebook. If you only want to clear the cache, then specify a nonexistent domain name
Scripting Firefox
Due to the WebExtensions framework adopted by Mozilla and released with Firefox 56 (a.k.a. Quantum), iMacros for Firefox 10 no longer includes the built-in Javascript scripting interface for playing .js files directly from the iMacros sidebar. However, as mentioned in Scripting Chrome and Firefox, you can still control iMacros for Firefox via external scripts and programs.
iMacros for Firefox requires the latest version of the iMacros scripting interface (API) included with the File Access installer under the following scenario:
If you use the iMacros Enterprise (v12.0 or older) scripting interface to connect to iMacros for Firefox *and* specify a non-default Firefox profile using e.g.:
then you will need to copy and overwrite the following dlls first before this functionality will work with the current version of iMacros for Firefox. This is not required if you are already using a newer version of iMacros Enterprise (newer than v12.0) or if you are not using -fxProfile.

This is the first version which supports Firefox Quantum (Firefox 57 and above). It is a complete new version for the Firefox Webextension API, which has more similarities with iMacros for Chrome than previous versions of iMacros for Firefox. In particular, there are some commands, variables, and functionality that were previously supported but currently are not mostly because the WebExtension API provided by Mozilla still lacks support for it.

Firefox nag screens can be annoying, especially when you plan to run Firefox unattended with iMacros for Firefox. This page collects the nag screens and how to disable them:
Disable the 'Start a new session, restore last session' dialog
This dialog appears if you launch Firefox after closing it out improperly (like just shutting down without closing Firefox).
Type in the url adress bar: about:config and press the Enter key.That opens a page with preferences.
The browser.sessionstore.enabled pref is not there by default, so you have to create it!
To create it, right click on the page to open the context menu and choose: New > Boolean.Add the new setting:
To disable the crash recovery feature, set browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to false:
To completely disable all session saving behavior, including the recording of session information, set browser.sessionstore.enabled to false:
Disable Firefox is already running, but is not responding
Firefox will only use one profile at a time. It does this by putting a lock file in your profile folder when it starts. When you exit Firefox, the lock file is removed. If the lock file already exists when you start Firefox, or in a few other cases where the profile cannot be opened, Firefox displays an error message: 'Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.'
You can not disable this dialog, but you can avoid it by using different profiles and use the '-fxProfile' switch with iimInit. So if you want to run up to five instances of iMacros for Firefox at the same time, simply create five different profiles and start Firefox via iimInit ('-fx -fxProfile P1') if 'P1' is the name of your profile.

In 'about:config' go to 'signon.rememberSignons' and change the value to 'false' (default is 'true').

2. Click on the Advanced option along the top.
3. Click on the Update tab.
4. Uncheck the boxes under Automatically check for updates to: to disable the automatic updates.

Disable Browser Resizing via Javascript
Some websites contain Javascript that resizes the browser screen (e. g. window.resizeTo command). To avoid this, open the advanced settings and uncheck the 'Allow Resize' option. See also SIZE.
Disable Mozilla Crash Reporter
Mozilla Crash Reporter is enabled by default and there is no user interface to disable it. Advanced users who prefer the standard application error notifications (e.g., the Windows error dialog ' has encountered a problem and needs to close' and Event Viewer record) can disable the Mozilla Crash Reporter. Disabling it is also recommend if you run iMacros for Firefox unattended. You can disable the Crash Reporter by setting the environment variable MOZ_CRASHREPORTER_DISABLE to 1. You can also disable the Mozilla Crash Reporter by opening the 'application.ini' file in the installation directory, finding the entry [Crash Reporter] Enabled=1 and changing the 1 to 0 (you will need to repeat the edit if an application update replaces the file).
Find Profile Folder
In Firefox 3.6 and above, you can simply open your profile folder directly from the Firefox Help menu, as follows:
- In the Firefox menu bar, click 'Help' and select 'Troubleshooting Information'. The about:support page will open.
- Under 'Application Basics', click on 'Open Containing Folder' (Windows and Linux) or 'Show in Finder' (Mac OS).
- OR: Enter about:support in the Firefox adress bar.
On Windows, the menu bar may be hidden. You can press the 'Alt' key to temporarily show a hidden menu bar.
On Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, profile folders are in this location, by default:
- %APPDATA%MozillaFirefoxProfiles
%APPDATA% is a variable that represents the C:Documents and SettingsApplication Data folder on Windows 2000/XP and the C:UsersAppDataRoaming folder on Windows Vista/7. Both of these folders are hidden by default.
Linux: Profile folders are located here:
- ~/.mozilla/firefox/
The '.mozilla' folder is a hidden folder.
Mac: Profile folders are in one of these locations:
- ~/Library/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/

Change Proxy Settings
To change proxy settings:
- Select Tools and then Options.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Open the Network tab.
- Click the Settings button in the Connections area.
- Select Manual Proxy Configuration.
- In the necessary proxy field(s), enter the proxy address and port number.
